the sense of place

FAQs

What about the loss of views and open space?

Although there is only a single public right of way across the former golf course, we recognise that at present, members of the public enjoy using the site more widely for dog-walking and exercise.

It is our intention to make Pincents Hill a much more well-connected, accessible and safe place for people who use it for walking and to improve its amenity value through the provision of excellent new public spaces and facilities.

We recognise however that in developing Pincents Hill we would be replacing a piece of open space with a new piece of town and that this will constitute a loss of amenity for some people.

It is our aim, however, to improve access to and quality of public open space in the area - of which Pincents Hill is one part. We are currently exploring ways of working with Tilehurst Parish Council and landowners to the north of Pincents Hill to examine how local people can enjoy improved access to the countryside and to a wide range of diverse and interesting green spaces following development at Pincents Hill.
