What about the impact on wildlife?

Since 2007, Blue Living been undertaking an extensive programme of ecological surveys to establish an accurate understanding of the existing biodiversity and habitats across the Pincents Hill site.

There are very strict national policies and regulations with regard to protection of species and habitats which will be faithfully observed. We are aware that the site currently houses several species of interest including badgers and yellow hammers. Our intention is to avoid disturbing them where possible. In cases where this is not feasible we are investigating how we can mitigate against any negative impact, replace and enhance habitat. We aim to bring about a net gain in biodiversity overall through our strategic green infrastructure developments and sensitive form of urban design including sustainable urban drainage, green roofs, green walls, extensive planting and habitat creation and ongoing management.

For further details, see the Pincents Hill outline planning application (Design and Access Statement: Ecology), available on the planning section of West Berkshire Counci's website.
