the sense of place

FAQs

How will you make sure Pincents Hill is a safe place to be?

Assessment of existing challenges has been undertaken via consultation with police and youth workers leading to a series of measures to prevent and address crime, including:

  • Design to ensure that streets and public spaces are made safe through overlooking by adjacent buildings, sight lines, appropriate lighting and by avoiding creating of opportunity areas for antisocial behaviour;
  • Ongoing engagement with leaders of young people's groups which will continue through detailed design and delivery stages to design out crime opportunities and create local community ownership;
  • Ongoing neighbourhood management once Pincents Hill has been delivered, which would include neighbourhood wardens with the responsibility of preventing antisocial behaviour.

For further details, see the Pincents Hill outline planning application (Strategies: Safety and Security Strategy).
