the sense of place

FAQs

Is it just a housing estate? What else would there be?

Too often in Britain, development in the last 80 years has not been about place but rather about single uses such as business, homes and leisure. As these uses are located separately they create dependence on the car. Given the rising costs of fuel and growing concern over climate change this is not a sustainable form of land use. Accordingly, Blue Living is committed to promoting and developing places that have a mix of uses at the local level. We will provide excellent public realm including a new public square and other high quality public spaces, some distinctive shops, cafés, restaurants, flexible working spaces and even a hotel. It is our aim to provide as many as possible of the facilities and services required by residents on a daily basis within walking distance of their homes. Of course, these would provide valuable amenities for the existing local communities too.
