Pincents Hill Design Enquiry

Blue Living held a Design Enquiry for Pincents Hill at the Calcot Centre over five days from 4th September 2008.

The Design Enquiry process, widely recognised as good practice in pre-application consultation, allows developers, design experts and other technical professionals to work intensively together, and in public view, in order to conceive a masterplan and its associated strategies. Before the Design Enquiry begins, a series of technical studies are undertaken to understand a site's opportunities and constraints, local planning policies and priorities and local needs and aspirations. The masterplan itself is then developed live over the course of the Design Enquiry. The continuous exchanges that take place between designers, statutory representatives, local experts and residents inform the evolution of the plan into a more responsive scheme.

The Pincents Hill Design Enquiry included two public meetings - one at the start of the process and one to present findings at the end. It also incorporated two 'open studio' days, allowing local residents to observe and share their views during the design process.
